Spotlight on Singapore brand Lauren Jasmine

We chanced upon this cute boutique on Amoy Street, which to our delight, has a cafe downstairs with a shopping area at the back of the store and upstairs! What a great concept – grab some lunch and shop!

Multitasking is women’s forte and this shop allows you to do just that. Enjoy your lunch and coffee, while feasting your eyes on the clothes and chat with your girlfriend.

We sometimes find boutique designers have clothes that look awesome on marketing materials, but the clothes are impractical to wear (especially in Singapore’s 70% humidity!). Well, we are happy to report Lauren Jasmine’s co-designers, Hazel Chang and Liyana Johan, design clothes that are appropriate for the office whilst ensuring each piece is injected with distinctive detailing to keep it unique and special.

For those of who are getting a tad bored of buying clothes in ZARA, Mango, Top Shop and are looking for office wear with a little pizzaz  (let’s face it, most of us have been in an embarassing situation where someone is wearing the exact same dress as you on the MRT, restaurant, cafe), then this store is definitely for you.

We love this collection for its playful combination of pattern, color, texture. Who says work clothes have to be boring?

Think fan-shaped pleats, pin tucks on sleeves and reversible dress styles – so cleverly chic they will make perfect additions to your wardrobe (did we mention that the quality of the fabric is superb?). Rest assured friends will be asking you where you get your clothes from and for those who don’t know you, they’ll be quietly wondering where your gorgeous skirt/dress/top comes from.

Many locals and expats alike want to support local Singaporean designers  but have no idea where and how to start! Well come visit Lauren Jasmine and you can see how incredibly talented some of these designers are. Just to note – their sizes run small, although they have tailored their range to accommodate taller ladies!
