C&N ♥ The colour RED

Carmen & Natasha are seeing red everywhere… and no, that’s not because people are being exceptionally annoying during *the most frustrating time to shop for anything thanks to the frenetic crowds consumed by retail madness and taking pictures with Santa* period.

It’s just that the colour red really IS everywhere – in store displays, shopping centers, the street, including our respective homes , so we decided that red is our fashion pick of the week. Yay! This is our take on wearing red during the holidays season.

BeFunky_null_1.jpgCarmen’s outfit: Asos top, skirt from Chatuchak market in Bangkok, Isabel Marant shoes, Zara jacket and Chanel handbag. As for accessories, well Carmen painted her nails in a funky Christmas pattern (see picture further drown below).

BeFunky_IMG_1366.jpg IMG_1261Oh and red lips is also considered fashion accessory by the way.

Here’s Natasha’s outfit details: Mango brocade top, Zara faux leather black pants (which every girl should have in their closet by the way! It’s surprisingly versatile and add a lot of pizzaz to your outfit), Ferragamo laser-cut ballerina flats, Chanel black clutch, Viktor & Rolf glasses, and Carolina Herrera bracelet.

The fact that red and black is a winning combo is no surprise. It’s as classic as black and white, only with a bit more oomph and sass put into it. Don’t be scared to mix leather with feminine texture or shape such as the A-line skirt that Carmen wore or the brocade top that Natasha threw on.

There you have it. Happy Christmas shopping, darling readers!

Patricia Rox Rocks!

image-11We’re always super excited when a new brand launches in Singapore, because it means we can be part of its journey from the very beginning and it’s amazing how much the fashion landscape in this island has changed in the past few years! When Natasha received an invitation to attend the Singapore launch of Patricia Rox, she was beside herself (especially after taking a peek at the website and semi-stalking her collection on Instagram). The event not only commemorated the launch of the Patricia Rox brand, but it also showcased the Spring/Summer 2015 The Fantasy Capsule, which is full of amazeballs exotic, intricate prints and bright bold colors, which we both LOVE! Check out this gorgeous scarf below – the vividness of the color on silk is just simply breathtaking! IMG_8803.PNGNatasha had the honor of chatting to Patricia Haywood, the genius behind the Patricia Rox brand and found out that she lived in Jakarta for four years (which is where Natasha is originally from). She’s a global citizen through and through and lived in Paris, London, Scotland, Toronto, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Uganda, Indonesia and Singapore. Another surprising fact about Patricia is that she used to be a fashion lawyer – seriously, she must’ve been one of the hottest lawyers around! We’re just super glad she made the quantum leap from being a lawyer to a super talented fashion designer instead! IMG_8845 IMG_8818.JPG Her collection, the Fantasy Capsule, is everything about Patricia’s whimsical childhood fantasies. And fantasies they must have been! Natasha was in awe with the silk kaftan style dresses with floral-inspired prints, vibrant and circus-inspired scarves, and buffalo horn and enamel jewelry (check out the picture below). Her design is effortlessly chic, and also versatile for resort, traveling or fancy cocktail parties (which makes us want to throw a garden party just to have an excuse to wear her dress). image image-3This one below is Natasha’s favorite! The turqoise color with tasteful embellishment around the neckline really makes the dress standout. Dress it down with wedges or take it up a notch with a pair of killer strappy Jimmy Choos. IMG_8844 IMG_8805.PNGEach print is a labor of love and painstakingly hand drawn by an artist, with some prints taking 200-300 hours to draw! image-2 We are also loving her gorge silk scarves and there’s a story behind every print, which you can find out from her website. The one below was produced in a family-run silk mill in Como. Come on, how beautiful are the colors and the paisley-inspired print! Currently, her scarves are available at gnossem, the Singapore online store, but you can also find her collection in Bali’s Aman resorts and shopzaozao in Hong Kong.IMG_8816.JPG IMG_8804.PNG IMG_8801.PNG IMG_8800.PNG IMG_8802.PNG IMG_8846 Rumor has it there’s a plan for the opening of her first flagship store on the shore, but hey we’re just super glad Patricia followed her passion which led her to this beautiful Fantasy Capsule!

Melbourne Cup Day = Fashion, Flemington, Field, Fun

We’re SUPER excited that Melbourne Cup – the race that stops a nation (it literally does, so much so that Aussies get a public holiday out of it) – is just around the corner!! Having lived in Melbourne for over ten years, Natasha is used to all the hype and buzz approaching one of the biggest fashion events in Australia and Carmen and Natasha can’t wait to see the ladies all dressed up and gents looking super suave and dapper :).

Even though it’s called Melbourne Cup Day (which falls on 4th November this year), let’s not forget that the fun actually begins today – which is Darby Day, the day for classic elegance, where everyone wears nothing but black and white (and it’s considered THE must-attend event), followed by Melbourne Cup Day on Tuesday, then Oaks Day on Thursday or also known as Ladies Day, where ladies get to show off their own style and creativity.

Even though we both have been away from Australia for some time now, we still make a point to celebrate Melbourne Cup Day wherever we are (even though Carmen is originally a Sydney girl, there’s no rivalry between us, because we both agree Melbourne is the fashion capital of Australia, contrary to what people say. Haha!)

So let’s start with a bit of history behind this special day. It all began in 1962 when the Victoria Racing Club’s (VRC) Fashions on the Field competition was born. The contest was meant to ‘woo more women to the races’ and boy did it woo the women alright! Check out these pictures if you don’t believe us! (pictures taken from the VRC website)

The Age of Fashion photographic

Pretty awesome right??

So you can imagine how thrilled we were when the Australian and New Zealand Association (ANZA) asked if we wanted to be on the cover of their magazine’s Melbourne Cup Day edition.

We started by getting our hair done at The Big Blow at Cluny court by the lovely and talented Ellie, and then off we went on our mini road trip to the Singapore Turf Club on what felt like a forty-degree sunny day. Sigh, the things we do for fashion!

First the dresses, by the Australian brand Cameo the Label, which were from this gorgeous shop on Amoy Street called Willow and Huxley and the beautiful Singapore made hats by Hats Off. Natasha chose her Valentino Rockstuds in patent red, while Carmen chose the super killer heels by Schutz. If you never had the chance to walk on lush grass in stilettos, let us tell you that it is NOT easy.

We had such a blast at the photo shoot, despite the heat! After all, what girl doesn’t get excited to wear pretty hats and dresses!

So there you have it, darling readers! We hope you learned a thing or two about  Melbourne Cup and enjoyed the pics 🙂

Carmen and Natasha

In love with Henri Charpentier’s shade of pink

First of all, can we start this blog post by declaring our love for this shade of pink, which is why we decided to do a ‘shoefie’ (read: shoe selfie) on the pink carpet. Red carpet is too ordinary for Carmen and Natasha pink is more unique 🙂 Natasha is loving her new shoes that she found at Marks and Spencer for… wait for it…. SGD50 (the original price was SGD110). Carmen is equally in love with her smoking hot red patent studded Prada sandals from the recent La Prendo sale. IMG_5152.JPGWhen we heard that the French-inspired Japanese Patisserie is opening its doors at Dempsey, we just had to check it out. After all, who wouldn’t be excited by the words ‘Japanese’ ‘French’ and ‘Patisserie’ all in the same sentence?!!? Henri Charpentier is very fancy shmancy with all the frills, but unfortunately not even the Japanese staff and our own Crepe Suzette station can impress us (did we mention the crepe suzette costs SGD22?). The service was very average (to put things mildly) and there was also no music when we went there, so the room was filled with this canteen-like noise of people chit chatting. The decor was beautiful though, and the fact that the cafe overlooks the lush greenery helps create the tranquil feel to the place. IMG_5178.JPGHere’s a picture of our $22 Crepe Suzette! IMG_5195.JPGWe must admit that Henri Charpentier’s financiers and madeleines are too die for! They literally melt in your mouth. God bless those happy Hokkaido cows! They sure produce the yummiest butter and milk.IMG_5528.JPGEnough about the restaurant review – which this post was not intended to be. Let’s focus on Carmen and Natasha’s outfit. Let’s face it, black and white and red is definitely a winning combo. It’s classic, but far from boring. And of course the red Prada sandals polish off the look beautifully.IMG_5428.PNGHow cool does the messy bun look on Carmen? A bit of attitude and personality is always a good addition to your swag. IMG_5430.PNG IMG_5432.PNG We swear we did not intentionally color coordinate our outfits! Great minds think alike, we’d say. 🙂 Natasha wore her red dress and completed the look with her beloved fuchsia Saint Laurent mini duffel bag and her Marks and Spencer shoes. Oh and Kate Spade bracelet plus Zara sunnies. IMG_5436.PNG IMG_5433-0.PNGThe green wall provides a good backdrop for our selfies. Yes, once in a while we can’t help but do fun selflies. IMG_5438.PNGAnd we’re always super grateful when we find a total stranger to take a decent pic of us. IMG_5435-0.PNG

Singapore’s fashion scene just got better with the opening of Roberto Cavalli Boutique in Marina Bay Sands!

We were super excited when we heard the news that the Italian designer Roberto Cavalli is opening a boutique in Singapore’s The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands! We were even more excited when we got an invitation to attend the boutique opening and a preview of Cavalli’s Fall/Winter 2014 collection. Again, Natasha had to fly solo because Carmen is attending London Fashion Week tomorrow. Yay!!

Cavalli’s designes have always been on the va-va-voom and flamboyant side, which is why Sofia Vergara wears a lot of his designs, because she herself is va-va-voom! This season, we REALLY like what we saw. Very Great Gatsby, 1920s silhouette, a lot of beading and lace, satin and silk, a bit of mink in all the right places, with a dash of Cavalli’s signature glamorous and sexy touch. Amazing play of textures and patterns, and every clothes Natasha saw on the runway were so breathtakingly beautiful.

So, enough writing and time to share the pics that Natasha took at the event. She made sure to stand strategically, so she could also take pictures of the (very friendly and pretty) models backstage. Natasha loved the flame constantly ‘burning’ on all four panels of the plasma TV, which played very well with some of the dresses with the flame-like pattern.

Now do you believe us when we say they’re all breathtaking??!!

Natasha managed to snap a picture between the models after the show. Thank God she wore her 12 cm Jimmy Choos, because the models were so damn tall! Even then she felt like a shorty among them 🙂

IMG_1153-0.PNGHere’s a picture of the female models – don’t you just love the handsome photo bomber in the background?

After the show was over, Natasha had a wander around the brandspanking new boutique and snapped a few photos of some of the gorgeous things she saw.

We’re definitely enchanted by Alice + Olivia’s “Enchanted: A Midwinter Night’s Dream”

IMG_0278.JPG As some of you may still remember, we did an extensive spotlight on Alice + Olivia a few months ago, where we basically had the time of our lives playing dress-up in their ION Orchard boutique. Needless to say, we adore A+O, so you can imagine how excited we were when we got an invitation to take a peak at A+O’s Fall 2014 collection from Juliana, A+O’s MarComm lady. Thank you Juliana!! The theme for this year’s Fall collection is “Enchanted: A Midwinter Night’s Dream”, and boy oh boy how super enchanted we were indeed. The kind of ‘enchanted’ that may very well send us broke, because there are so many enchanting items. Sigh, it’s so hard being a girl. IMG_0274.JPG Again, Carmen had to miss out on all the fun because she’s currently somewhere in Denmark, enjoying some ‘hygge’ time (if you don’t know what ‘hygge’ means, look it up!). Natasha had to do the hard work, snapping pictures, getting lost in the world of A+O. So let’s take you through A+O’s delicious collection, shall we? IMG_0553-0.PNG IMG_0535.PNG Natasha is IN LOVE with this clutch. How absolutely cute is this clutch! It’s fun and flirty without looking too childish and gimmicky. A girl can never have a diamond too darn big, that’s what we like to think. 🙂 It’s a sizable size, too, so you can put more than just your lipgloss and iPhone! That’s the thing about Stacy, she’s a woman and a mother, and she knows a woman needs more space to put her things in a clutch! IMG_0533.PNG This butterfly print is a signature in the Enchanted collection, which uses a lot of brocade, embellishment and lace. Three of Natasha’s favorite things! The clothes just look so luxurious and glamorous, with a touch of sophistication and mystery thrown in the mix.  IMG_0661.PNG As you can see, the butterfly design is carried throughout the collection, including this absolutely gorgeous asymmetrical skirt below and the shoes further down in the picture. LOVE!!!!!!!! IMG_0537.PNG IMG_0536.PNG Now on to shoes, Natasha really likes these cute number with pom poms on it. She typically doesn’t like things that are too cutesy, but this time these cuties below really caught her attention! Perfect with jeans a nice silky top. Stick to more simple silhouettes and color, preferably nothing too busy, so you don’t distract the attention away from the shoes. IMG_0539.PNG These flats come in high heels as well and they’re just too cute for words. LBD would look amaze balls with the shoes, and throw on a big chunky pearl necklace and one of those Jackie O sunnies and off you go!IMG_0540The cardigans, oh the cardigans!! Who says cardigans have to be boring? Stacey certainly thinks they need not be AND she makes unicorns look trendy and not childish. That’s the thing with A+O, the designs are fun and whimsical, it brings out the fun in all us, yet in a tasteful way. Natasha was never that big on unicorns growing up, but she is now, thanks to Stacey! IMG_0542.PNG Look, it’s Stacey’s signature glasses on a otherwise boring grey cardi! This would go perfectly with a pair of skinny dark denim or wear it to work by switching the jeans to black capri pants. instead of wearing the cardi, throw it on your shoulder for that effortless look. IMG_0544.PNG This is probably Natasha’s favorite cardi – it’s a toss-up between this and that godforsaken gorge unicorn cardi. What’s so good about it? Well, you can detach the Peter Pan collar and it becomes a more simple and classic jumper. How versatile is that? This jumper is perfect for traveling. It’s simple and versatile without being boring. IMG_0543.PNG Here’s a snap shot of the uber pretty and friendly model, Marija Shatilo. Of course if you have legs as long as Marija, these boots would look amazing with a super short A-line skirt such as the one she’s wearing. IMG_0541.PNG  As we mentioned before, A+O’s Enchanted collection plays with a lot of texture in the fabric add the richness and depth of color can be seen throughout the collection. Here are a few pictures to give you an idea. IMG_0545.PNG IMG_0549-0.PNG   Look at the intricate embellishment on this dress! It’s breath taking (and heavy) and just simply one-of-a-kind. IMG_0548-0.PNG IMG_0547-0.PNG   This is definitely one of Natasha’s favorite dresses. The contrast stitching and design creates such an impact! IMG_0546-0.PNG IMG_0550-0.PNG  If full beading ain’t your thing then you might want to stick to something more simple and demure such as this beauty in the picture below. With subtle beads around the neckline, this dress is so pretty and feminine. IMG_0551-0.PNG   IMG_0552-0.PNG   Before Natasha made her way out of the store, her sweet tooth instinct told her to turn her gaze to one particular spot in the store and voila! It’s Stacey’s face on cake pops! How cute are they 🙂 IMG_0557.PNG   Here’s Natasha with the gorgeous bouquet of flowers from The beauty candy Apothecary, a cute little shop at Cluny Court owned by a super stylish Indonesian mama called Astri (they also supplied some yummy Fresh Pressed juice at the event). Flowers always bring a smile to any girl’s face. IMG_0377.PNG IMG_0531.PNG   IMG_0350.JPG

Sassy Singapore and Kate Spade unveiled Fall Season’s Tokyo and Shanghai Collection!

When we found out that Sassy Singapore is teaming up with Kate Spade to unveil the brand new Fall collection, we were beyond excited. When we found out the new Fall collection is Asia-inspired, we were excited beyond belief, especially when Kate Spade picked out two of Asia’s coolest cities to be her inspiration, Tokyo and Shanghai! Such a nice shift from last season’s Italy-inspired summer collection.

As many of our darling readers may already know, Carmen and Natasha have been teaming up with our friends at Sassy Singapore to review a bunch of things around Singapore and being humongous fans of Kate Spade, there’s nothing better than going to an event that combines both!

Here’s Natasha with the sassy girls from the Sassy team. Unfortunately Carmen isn’t in the picture, because she’s currently having the time of her life traveling through Scandinavia for a month, so Natasha has to hold the fort.IMG_9740.PNG

Poppy Skinner, Sassy Singapore’s Editor, gave useful fashion tips on how to mix and match this season’s pieces. How cute is her statement neck candy?! Natasha’s loving her loafers, too. Whoever says that black outfits are boring need to go on a little accessories treasure hunt!

We’re swooning over the cobalt blue leopard print from the Tokyo collection. Natasha has her eyes on the Keds and cute cat bag and the bamboo green sling bag. Okay she has her eyes on many many things and can you blame her?

How gorge is this clutch below?! Such a standout piece and perfect to jazz up a black LBD.

IMG_9759.JPGUnlike the Tokyo collection, which is more on the fun and flirty side, the Shanghai collection has more of a luxurious, sexy, yet festive feel to it with its deep cherry red and black and white color pallette.

Natasha was busy trying to gain her momentarily lost composure the moment she laid her eyes on the gorgeous Chinese takeaway box bag. How. Amazing. Is. It. sigh…..

Okay so it’s not just the Chinese takeaway box that’s super cute, the bird cage bag is equally gorgeous! Why do you have to have such cute stuff Kate Spade? Why!!!

As if the drool-worthy bags weren’t torturous enough, check out these amaze balls shoes below! There’s something sentimental and timeless about Mary Janes, especially these burgundy ones below. The black ribbon really completes the look!

Natasha is a massive fan of the color coral, so she’s super duper happy to see so many coral-colored items in store.

Natasha found a whole bunch of goodies from Benefits makeup, as well as a nifty voucher from Prep blow dry bar in the goody bag and she loved this cute (not to mention yummy!) little fortune cookie – how cute is the Kate Spade takeaway container by the way?!

Carmenandnatasha’s favorites at the Emmys this year!

Many many women around the world glue their eyes on what celebrities wear on a daily basis, especially during awards season and the Emmys naturally have that affect on us.

Carmen and Natasha are LOVING Claire Danes’ choice this year. She looked so elegant and polished in her Givenchy dress. Agent Brody, eat your heart out – yes, we’re big Homeland fans.

How gorgeous did Lizzy Caplan look in this beautiful Donna Karan Atelier dress! Lizzy who? Well, she’s definitely one to watch out for. This Masters of Sex actress sure has a kickass stylist or an impeccable taste judging by her dress selection!

Kerry Washington is another celebrity robot we reckon. She looked ah-mazeballs in this orange Prada number, only a few months after giving birth to a cute baby girl just two months ago.

If we had legs like julia Roberts, and a great big signature smile we’d be grinning ear to ear, too! Who says you have to wear a long gown to look great at the Emmys? Julia Roberts looked refreshingly different in this Elie Saab Haute Couture sparkly dress.

Sofia Vergara looks hot in everything, even a potato sack. Okay, maybe not but still.. This Roberto Cavalli white number looked sizzling hot on her. This woman looks awesome in any color, yes, we love to hate you Sofia.

Michelle Dockery, we want your Rosie Assoulin tricolor dress!! What’s not to love about this breathtaking dress. The color combo, the cut, the silhouette, love, love, love.  Oh and we love the minimal makeup, too. 🙂

Okay, seriously, we’re convinced Heidi Klum is a robot. There’s no way she’s human and looked this stunning in her Zac Posen after giving birth to four genetically blessed children.

We’re seeing a lot of coral on the red carpet at the Emmys this year, as you can see from Sara Hyland’s Christian Siriano ensemble. We love how she kept the look fresh, simple, found and sophisticated.

Keke Palmer looked breathtaking in a Rubin Singer midnight blue dress! Not a bad choice for a 20 year-old. We certainly had a few too many fashion mishaps at age 20!

Kate Mara looked so very angelic in her J. Mendel dress below, a far cry from her Zoe Barnes tomboy style (yes, we watch House of Cards religiously and if you don’t, you should!).

Laprendo Sale is back and we loved it!

Carmen and Natasha are fans of Laprendo, Singapore’s premium brand shop with a store that is nicely tucked in a corner of Dempsey’s maze of shops and restaurants and another shop, specifically selling jewelry, at the Fullerton Hotel.

Every year, we’re always anticipating for Laprendo’s annual sale and we were beyond excited when we found out its annual sale is held this weekend. What we like about the Laprendo sale is the variety, quality and value of the goods. We’re not misled by their sale, because a lot of the items are actually at 80% off, especially their ‘last pieces’ rack. Granted some of their stuff are a few seasons old, but for fans of classic and timeless pieces like us, we don’t really care.

In terms of brands, they have practically everything you can think of. Let’s start with the usual suspects, Gucci, Prada, YSL, Miu Miu, D&G, Victoria Beckham, Marni, last year Natasha even managed to snatch a gorgeous pair of Chanel ballerinas, Valentino, Christian Dior, you get the point. They also have clothes for sale, as well as accessories such as glasses, belts, ipad and iPhone cases (we spotted a few gorgeous ones from Balenciaga). The clothes were absolutely gorge. Natasha spotted a super pretty Celine and Red Valentino dress, but decided to take home a classic Marlene Birger shirt for a mere SGD80!!!!!!!! Please excuse our excessive enthusiasm. We can’t help ourselves.

Anyway, enough typing and time to post a snapshot of the awesome sale and some of the items we managed to snatch before all the good stuff are gone!

Out and about on Keong Saik

20140717-074530-27930150.jpgOne fine (and also very hot!) day, we decided to stroll along one of Singapore’s current hottest spots, Keong Saik Road, which is lined up with the city’s coolest bars and restaurants nestled in Chinatown’s beautifully conserved and colorful shophouses.

Carmen was wearing  a gorgeous baby blue dress by ZARA, with cute knot detailing on the sleeve. The dress is so light and breezy, perfect for Singapore’s increasingly hot temperature. Seriously, the humidity has been so high and our trusted indicator for humidity is …. our hair! And no, that’s NOT a good thing. Carmen wore her super duper comfy Tod’s (trust us, these Tod’s have been tried and tested, and surprisingly durable) and black Kate Spade tote bag.

20140717-074530-27930639.jpgCarmen decided to go for a simple, yet stylish and classic accessories. Check out her beautiful cream-colored earrings and necklace, which go together with just about every outfit. Oh, the necklace can easily be converted into a bracelet, too. We love versatile jewelry!

20140717-074534-27934099.jpgNatasha, on the other hand, opted for a much brighter ensemble as you can see from the picture below! 🙂

The Chanel bag below is one of her favorite bags, she loves its colors and fabric. The silk dress is from Kookai – unfortunately they don’t have a shop here in Singapore, she bought it on a trip to Melbourne last year. The Valentino rock stud bracelets match her dress perfectly. Yay! Oh, the strappy sandals are Oroton, an Aussie brand.

20140717-074531-27931649.jpgAfter walking around for about 10 seconds – okay make it 5 minutes – we decided that the heat was just too unbearable so we decided to cool down by going to Potatohead Folk, one of the newcomers on Keong Saik. We actually did a review on it for the newly launched Sassy Singapore, an awesome website for everything a girl needs to know about  Singapore and more.20140717-074531-27931126.jpgWe love the interior of this place! It’s very different to all the Potatoheads we’ve been to in Jakarta and Bali.20140717-074533-27933606.jpgWe found super cute spot by the window, which looked out onto the street. Perfect spot to enjoy our midday (alcoholic) drinks.. *clear throat*.. !

Sandro, at last you’ve arrived!

We were so stoked when we found out one of our favorite French brands, Sandro, opened in ION on Orchard! We love Sandro for its simplicity and versatility, as well as its gorgeous fabrics. Its cocktail dresses are totes amaze balls because of their interesting design and silhouette that seems to really complement women’s figure (that’s right Victoria’s Secret, not all of us are US size 0, most when actually have real curves and embrace our lady lumps!).

We decided to do what we do best, having fun on the job by trying on our favorite pieces in the store – by the way Sandro participates in this year’s GSS and there are some pretty good deals at 40-50% off! Yay!!

Carmen tried on this amazing knit sweater in canary yellow, which goes perfectly with the eyelet white skirt. And come on, how funky are those shoes? This outfit is perfect for a chilled out night at the movies. If only Singapore’s weather can cool down by 10 degrees, that would be just perfect. Sigh.

Carmen is loving this simple, yet edgy black bag. Come on, what’s not to love about it! It’s super versatile, with a hint of edgy to liven an otherwise plain outfit. It’s small without being too small, we detest bags that can only (barely) fit your lip gloss and phone.

Natasha picked this green snakeskin romper, paired with plain white leather sneakers which is just so divine. The jumpsuit can be worn with cute strappy sandals, or if you want to take it up a few notches, you can put your kickass stilettos on and throw on a structured blazer, and a simple clutch would finish the look perfectly!

How awesome does the green look with yellow? We love this look combo!

Okay, on to our second outfit of choice. Carmen picked out this delicious lace and satin top, combined with leather A-line skirt together with black leather edges with gold studs. Again, we love how Sandro’s classic items can be easily mixed and matched with other items to make a winning combo!

Natasha picked out this gorgeous satin and lace black dress with a touch of white silk, quite similar to the top Carmen picked out. The white skinny belt with gold chain and zip-up black and white strappy high heel sandals balanced out the look so it doesn’t look to dainty and plain.

20140602-194642-71202754.jpgThis is Natasha’s absolute favorite dress in blush pink (there’s one hanging in her closet). The dress is really flattering on the body and very comfortable to wear, ideal for Singapore’s heat. Gold jewelry goes perfectly with blush pink!20140602-194641-71201425.jpgAhh the silk floral dress, another great item at Sandro! It’s so flowy and light, dress it up with heels and belt to cinch the waist or dress it down with a pair of cute strappy sandals. To complete the look? Tie your hair up in a messy bun or ponytail and off you go!

20140602-194641-71201860.jpgCarmen’s next outfit of choice was this black and white zip-up dress, which looks grey from the distance. This dress is so fun and subtly flirty because of the way the skirt moves. Jazz it up with a wide red belt or even hot pink to really make it pop. Definitely wearable for the office, depending on how you accessorize it.

20140602-194643-71203226.jpgNatasha loves this red dress with cutout on the side! Who says cocktail dresses need to be on the safe side all the time? She decided to tone it down with a pair of white leather sneakers and a distressed leather jacket. A tad bit too warm to wear in Singapore, but hey, it’s perfect to wear on your next trip to Hong Kong or Japan right? Remember, there will always be an occasion to wear it, that’s what we always say. 🙂20140602-194644-71204220.jpgCarmen fell for this sweater and the moment she saw it on the hanger, she knew she had to try it on! Perfect to wear with white or blue denim, or leather shorts or cute skirt. Ok it practically looks good with anything and everything. Sigh.

20140602-194644-71204617.jpgSome of our favorite accessories in Sandro, there’s heaps more but this is going to end up being a super long blog post if we put everything in! We really like the see through small sling bag in snakeskin.

20140602-221855-80335253.jpgHere’s our top picks for shoes and sandals. Please don’t ask us to pick our favorite, because we want all of them!20140602-221855-80335451.jpgSandro boutique can be found on level 3 of ION Orchard, conveniently right next to Alice and Olivia just in case you want to pop by afterwards.

When life gives you lemons, do what Kate Spade does and make a fashion statement out of it!

20140525-152516.jpgNatasha went to the Amalfi coast two years ago and fell head over heels in love with everything that is Amalfi – the picture above was taken in the town of Positano, one of her favorite places in the world!

If there’s one thing the Amalfians (yes, that’s a made-up word) are obsessed about, it would undoubtedly be lemon. You can see it, you can taste it (did someone say Limoncello?), you can smell it in the air. Let the pictures below be the proof!

20140525-152536.jpgAnd here’s a picture of Natasha, well-camouflaged amidst all things lemon thanks to her floral ZARA pants.

20140603-224252-81772943.jpgNow we’re both huge fans of Kate Spade and were beyond excited to see how Kate Spade was just as obsessed with lemons and Amalfi by the looks of her Spring collection. We love the display at Kate Spade’s ION Orchard store! We want everything on that table – where should we start – the hat, bag, Bambini bag, the shoes, cardigan, scarf, EVERYTHING!20140530-214908.jpgKate Spade, why are your bags always so darn cute!20140525-152548.jpg

20140530-214919.jpgAhhh the Fiat Bambino, quintessentially Italian.  This bag might be a bit tricky to carry, but it would make the cutest home decoration!

20140525-152556.jpgSome people think this lemon-shaped bag is a tad too much, but we don’t think so! How cute would it look with a summer dress or even capri pants and cute flats!20140525-152603.jpgWe adore the straw bag below and the camera bag – soooo cute!!20140525-152610.jpgHow cute is the bag and matching flip flops? Perfect for a weekend stroll! 20140525-152617.jpg

20140525-152625.jpgWe think the lemon collection makes a perfect addition to our summer wardrobe, but you have to be quick, their bags are selling out very quickly! Psssst.. Just a quick tip, if the Kate Spade stores run out of your shoe size, you can try your luck at Robinsons on Orchard because they sell Keds for Kate Spade shoes there. 🙂

Spotlight on Alice and Olivia – one of Carmen and Natasha’s favorite New York designers!

Both of us are HUGE fans of Alice and Olivia. Natasha had her first encounter with the brand in its Meatpacking District store in New York City and instantly fell in love with the whimsical yet practical designs, while Carmen’s first Alice and Olivia experience was in Hong Kong’s IFC Mall store.

We were both equally ecstatic when we found out Alice and Olivia opened up a shop in ION Orchard. We decided to get in touch with the brand’s Marketing and Communications team to see if we can take a few pictures of some of our favorite items in the shop and much to our delight, we got a very friendly and quick response! (Thank you Juliana and Elaine!)

Alice and Olivia is a New York contemporary clothing company with the uber talented yummy mummy Stacey Bendet at the helm. Having launched at Barneys in 2002, the brand is now sold in over fifty countries – now including Singapore! Yay!

This is the façade of the Alice and Olivia store on 3rd floor of ION Orchard. The visual is rather Alice in Wonderland, don’t you think? Especially with the gorgeous tall hats on the mannequins.

20140501-230136.jpgHow awesome is this light fixture on the ceiling?! It reminds us of fireworks! it’s such a standout piece in the store that we just had to take a picture of it.

20140518-213853.jpgWe were told that Stacey is very hands on when it comes to the design aspect of her stores worldwide, she personally picks out one piece of furniture to go into her store. For Singapore, she picked out this beautiful wooden, retro looking drawer, an original item from the 60s which has been given a second chance in life. We love how eclectic pieces are scattered around the boutique and they all seem to gel together! Oh and yes, that’s Dylan’s Candy Bar candies you’re seeing – Natasha is a big fan!

20140518-213847.jpgStacey describes her brand as sophisticated with a playful sensibility – which we definitely think sums it up. She’s really into mix and match, which we totally love! We adore her ball gowns and also her office wear. It was really difficult to pick out our favorite pieces because they’re all oh-so-amazing, but after containing our excitement we finally decided on the stuff we want to try on. It’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it. 🙂

20140518-213916.jpgWe love the way the brand differentiates its collection through clever, quirky and witty labels like the ones below. The ’employed’ label is more for office wear, therefore more conservative and subdued – with a bit of fun infused into it.

20140518-213938.jpgThe ‘air’ label is for the jetsetters in all of us. Yes, we agree comfort is key when you’re dashing from one airport to another, but one need not look so frumpy while doing it! Remember, you NEVER know who you might bump into at the airport or on the plane and a bit of effort goes a loooooong way.

20140518-213947.jpgWe decided to try on a few key pieces from each label – and of course the Spring/Summer collection is so gorgeous. Below is Natasha’s pick:

20140518-213956.jpgNatasha is head over heels over the red lips dress and even dreamt about it several times. To buy or not to buy – that’s always a constant conundrum we both face. Sigh.

There’s a zipper on the back of the dress, another design feature in a lot of Alice and Olivia’s dresses – which is where practicality comes into play. Carmen opted for a tailored fit black pants with some killer heels and this beautiful shirt, perfect for work. The best part about Alice and Olivia is that there’s only a limited amount of pieces in each size, so if you see something you like you better grab it fast!

20140518-220020.jpgThe ball gowns. Oh the ball gowns. We are in awe of every one of them. The one on the mannequin has got to be our favorite, which is why we decided to leave that one alone just in case we find it difficult to walk away from it.

20140518-214423.jpgCarmen chose this gorgeous lace dress in nude color, perfectly accented with the simple yet glamorous looking necklace. We love the fabric panels on the dress and it’s so demure and sexy at the same time. Natasha chose the ball gown skirt, paired with a cropped white polo shirt for a more preppy look. The skirt is amazing, it’s the perfect length and fit – the kinda skirt you would wear to the theater on a perfect crisp spring evening.

20140518-214511.jpgThe beaded black and white dress below is very Great Gatsby don’t you think? Natasha is in love… yet again… It’s so classy and chic, and the length makes it a tad flirty without going overboard. Perfect for a cocktail party or even a spring wedding.

20140518-214601.jpgThe Alice and Olivia beaded clutch is the perfect fit! Of course you can go a bit adventurous and pair it with a pop of color – yellow would work well. Or red! Loving the zebra pint carpet, too, by the way.

20140518-214647.jpgSpeaking of yellow, check out the yellow pants worn below by Carmen! Such a cute, yet badass, combo with the black and white cami! And the peeptoe booties? Gorgeous! We have a closer snapshot of it further down in this blog post.

20140518-215923.jpgNatasha went straight to the beaded jacket when she was picking out her outfits. Not only IS the detailing is amazing, it’s also versatile and can be dressed up and down. Jeans and killer heels is always an option. But shorts will also make an awesome ensemble! Again, yellow is always a great ‘neutral’ color to make your outfit pop. The Alexander McQueen shoes below is perfect for this outfit!

20140518-215931.jpgCarmen totally rocked this ensemble, don’t you think? That bamboo print jacket is so damn nice and the pop of magenta really made the whole outfit much more interesting. And again, those peep toe booties won our vote!

20140518-215943.jpgHow cute are the shoes below? That’s actually Stacey’s profile, with her famous sunnies and red lips embedded into these adorbs flats! 20140518-221015.jpgHow pretty are these lace shoes below? Make it less feminine by teaming it with a pair of leather pants or leather skirt! or keep it elegant and simple with dark denim and this season’s must-have, the crop top.20140518-221024.jpgBelow are the peep toe laser cut booties we mentioned earlier, the one that Carmen wore with the yellow pants. How adorable that they’re all cut out into tiny little hearts!

20140524-135306.jpgCarmen and Natasha totally dig this tote bag. Perfect for work and perfect for everyday use because of its tough leather. We think the color is so gorgeous and unusual.

20140518-221039.jpgRemember what we said earlier about Alice and Olivia’s clothes being practical? Well the photo below captures that aspect perfectly. Many of her skirts and dresses have elastic very subtly incorporated into the design. How genius is that? We’ve all had our ‘I feel fat today’ moments, and this is such a clever way to combat those days. You can still have the nice slim fitting without feeling like you can’t breathe or eat.

20140518-221048.jpgThere you have it! Our review on Alice and Olivia in Singapore. Admittedly, her clothes are a bit on the expensive side compared to the prices in NYC. However, her design is so unique and the fabrics used are all so yummy that we think it’s worth the price you pay for.  We’ll let you be the judge of that, next time you go to ION Orchard, pop by to the Alice and Olivia boutique on level 3!

Spotlight on shopping in Chapel Street, Melbourne Part 1: Alannah Hill

IMG_7393Natasha was lucky enough to go on a quick getaway to one of her favorite cities in the world, Melbourne, her home for nearly 10 years.  Anyone who knows Melbourne would agree that one of the city’s must-sees for any fashionista is Chapel Street, located in the suburb of South Yarra. Chapel Street is a long stretch of street full of shops displaying Australia’s top designers, as well as other global brands. You’ll be spoiled for choices if you want to have a quick break and decide to grab a bite to eat or get a dose of your caffeine injection (which Melbourne is also famous for!).

So enough of the intro, let’s get to the fun bit – going to the shops and snap a few pics for our lovely readers and followers 🙂 Natasha’s first stop was Alannah Hill, definitely one of Carmen and Natasha’s favorite Australian designers. What’s not to like about Alannah Hill? From her absolutely gorgeous dresses, that are so feminine and girly, to her accessories, and the whimsical decor of her boutique oh and did we mention the girls that work there are always so damn pretty and picture perfect (and friendly!).

Alannah Hill is famous for her ultra feminine clothes and we’ve always loved her cardigans! They’re almost too beautiful to wear! Think beautiful fit, intricate detail including lace and beads and ribbon. Sigh…. Carmen and Natasha can go on and on.. Pricewise, it’s definitely not cheap. Her cardigans start from AUD169 and above but it’s oh-so-worth it! Dresses are AUD269 and above, but trust us, once you feel the quality and the fit, it’s hard not to cause a bit of damage to your bank account.IMG_7396

IMG_7402Natasha couldn’t help but pick a few pieces herself and take a quick pic with the beautiful ladies that work there. And yes, that’s Champagne in Natasha’s hand, not apple juice disguised in a Champagne flute.IMG_7449

IMG_7453Here’s a picture of the gorgeous Tara, check out her hair! Love! Natasha had to exercise every bit of her self-control muscle to resist those macarons and yet she failed at resisting the Champers. IMG_7452We love Alannah Hill’s accessories. The shoes are very Valentino and check out those gloves and belt! IMG_7398

IMG_7399How adorable is the matching hat and scarf in black and white! If only Singapore was a few degrees cooler. Okay maybe make that 20 degrees cooler.IMG_7400So here are a few things that Natasha took home with her. The cardigan below is her absolute favorite. The bow is so divine and each flower is embroidered!IMG_7661Here’s a closeup of the detailing. And check out the button. Love, love and love!IMG_7662Being a huge fan of floral print, Natasha went gaga over the dress below. How can she not? The colors are so pretty, and the beading on the collar and it fits absolutely beautifully!IMG_7663

IMG_7664Okay so she loved it so much that she decided to get the skirt as well 🙂 Pair it with a nice crisp white shirt and a signature necklace, put your hair up in a messy bun, pick up a matching clutch and espadrilles or wedges and off you go!       IMG_7665Alannah Hill has a few shops around Melbourne, but the Chapel Street shop is the flagship store. So next time you go to Melbourne, do yourself a favor and stop by!

A Friday Night Well Spent with the Gucci Artisans

It’s been a while since Carmen and Natasha last checked out the goodies in a Gucci boutique, so when we got an invitation to witness the creation of Gucci’s iconic bamboo handbags at its flagship store in Paragon, we thought ‘why the heck not?!’.

It’s amazing how you take for granted the amount of work and craftsmanship that goes into making a gorgeous Gucci handbag, so seeing one being made right in front of your eyes really make you gain a sense of appreciation and understanding why the pricetag is a tad on the expensive side.

There were four artisans who displayed their expertise in crafting some of Gucci’s exquisite designs and it really is a show of excellent teamwork as each person clearly takes pride in the work they do to produce a gorgeous bag.

We absolutely love the pencil sketches of the handbag designs. How cool would it look to have it framed and placed on the wall of your walk-in closet?! (hey we’re allowed to fantasize, are we not?).

So when one is wondering around a designer boutique such as Gucci, one can’t help but fantasize about “if we had $15,000 to spend in this shop, what would we buy??”. So here’s Carmen and Natasha’s list of goodies:

How adorable is this tote bag!! Very spring, chic, and feminine. The pink really makes all the difference. We can totally picture carrying this bag around Firenze in a beautiful summer dress and wedges, while enjoying that yummy gelato in a cone. 🙂

We both love these wedges – and no, these should not be paired with the gorgeous bag above. A bit too much floral can’t be a good thing! How fantastic would this look with a bright colored A-line skirt and a crisp white shirt and a beautiful statement necklace? Sigh.

What’s not to love about this croco leather tote bag? The color is absolutely gorgeous! note: We didn’t dare ask the price on this one and did the wisest thing, which was to just walk away (and not look back)

We both went gaga over the two dresses above and the sparkly shoes on the right. What girl doesn’t love sparkly things?!

These simple suede pumps got our attention. The color, the shape and height tick all the right boxes!

How exquisite is the dress above! The combination of color and pattern, together with the gorgeous cut and silhouette – both of us were blown away! How very French Riviera and Amalfi Coast.

The bag above is so darn cute! Admittedly we’re not a big fan of hearts on a bag, but somehow this works. Pair it with dark denim, cute pink ballerina flats, and a white shirt and you’re done.

In love with the dresses above! The unusual terra cotta color really makes it stand out. All you need with this dress is the perfect sun-kissed skin and a pair of kickass wedges.

Welcoming Spring ZARA Style!

So here’s the thing – we’ve been a tad bit disappointed with ZARA lately, because ever since Christmas last year, we saw nothing but dark colors! Yes, we know it’s winter everywhere else but Singapore (and its surrounding countries), but we can’t help but count the days when the spring collection hits the store considering how unbearably HOT Singapore has been for the past two months.

So Natasha decided to check out ION’s ZARA shop and … *drumroll* … at last, the spring collection has finally arrived! And boy oh boy, was she super excited to scout all the gorgeous stuff they have in stock. After a few seconds – okay make it a few minutes – she finally managed to contain her excitement and picked out her favorite print dresses only. Why? To be honest, she would’ve ended up with 50 items and that would’ve made the ZARA staff a bit suspicious!

Below are Natasha’s top four print dresses!

The dress below is absolutely gorgeous! From the color, print, cut, silhouette, it ticked all the right boxes. Oh, and it’s affordable at SGD109.90. Perfect office attire or date night or brunch! Throw on a belt to cinch the waist – for some reason, we think a neon yellow colored belt would do the trick. (note: Natasha ended up buying this dress, because it needed a home, she said)

This dress is equally gorgeous as the first one and comfy! Again, what’s not to love about this dress? It ticks all the same boxes as the dress above (with the same price, too!). By the way, Natasha decided to buy this one as well because she said the other dress needed a friend in the closet.

How cool is the detailing on the collar? It makes such a difference to the dress. Pair it with yellow or green stilettos if you’re feeling bold and brave. Tone it down with grey or black pumps for a more subtle look.

This dress has quite an interesting print, definitely more casual than the previous two, but way more edgy! It’s quite short as well, so we think strappy sandals would polish the look perfectly. Put on a bright and chunky neck candy and put your hair up in a messy bun and you’re good to go!

The final dress on Natasha’s list is the most demure looking of the lot, but its’ still pretty! Stack a few strings of pearl necklace at different lengths and slip on a pair of black ballerina flats and a simple clutch. Perfect for a weekend brunch! You can dress it up with a pair of black pumps to transform it into office wear.

Spotlight on NYC Spring Fashion 2013 – The flagship Kate Spade Shop at SoHo

Every once in a while Carmen and Natasha have the privilege to tag along their other halves on their business trip. So while the men work, Carmen and Natasha have to do the hard work of walking around, shop, take a few pictures for the Carmen and Natasha blog. It’s a hard job, but someone’s gotta do it, right?!! 🙂

This time around, it was Natasha’s turn to tag along to New York City, one of her favorite cities in the world! Despite it being winter in New York, nothing stopped her determination to check out what spring fashion in New York would look like.

For those of you who have been to New York, you would know how awesome SoHo is! It is  a great neighborhood with cute little shops (think Chapel Street in Melbourne, combined with the little alley ways like Flinders Lane). It’s packed with neighborhood bakery, cafes, trattorias, and many more hidden gems. Natasha was lucky to stay in this area for one whole week – she even had the chance to spy on Katie Holmes sitting quietly in a corner of the local cafes!

Without much consideration, she knew she had to check out the Kate Spade flagship store – rumor has it they’re going to open a three-story shop to accommodate all things Kate Spade, including her bridal and home collection! *note to self: think of an excuse to go to New York again when the shop opens.

The side entrance of the Kate Spade shop. On a freezing New York winter afternoon, going in the shop was the perfect excuse to ‘stay warm’. 🙂

The hot pink and stripes work really well, especially for spring. Thanks to Singapore’s freezing malls and offices, we can still wear something like this in this part of the world!

How cute are the mannequins? Imagine wearing the dresses with a pair of colorful pumps or even wedges. Love!

The shoes look so enticing that Natasha just had to try on a pair herself. In the world of Carmen and Natasha, trying often means buying and this time was no exception. And the best part? The lovely sales assistant gave her a generous 10% discount, because it was the last pair in size 8.5!

How gorgeous are these pointy slingback flats? The cork material combined with the neon patent tip really works. They would look adorable with a cute summer dress or an A-line skirt paired with a crisp white shirt and statement necklace.

Check out these cute espadrilles! Imagine pairing it with cotton shorts and a denim shirt. The denim ones were Natasha’s favorite.

We are loving what Kate Spade has to offer for the spring collection. It’s very pop art! We want them all!

We love the way the boxes are stacked – the colors are just amazing.

So long Kate Spade, we will definitely be back in NYC, preferably in spring when the weather is a lot more nicer.

Timeless Fashion Inspiration

So our dear readers, all of us have come across a page in the magazine as we sit at the hairdresser getting our hair or nails done and saw a good fashion inspiration and think to yourself “ooh I’m going to have to remember that ensemble!”. Chances are you’ll forget it two minutes later when you get distracted by a glittery nail polish. Well, this time Natasha decided to post it and share it with all of you!

How elegant is this fashion mix? From the luscious combo of leather and different  tones of beige and camel to the stacked bracelet and rings! We are totally loving what this headless girl is wearing.

Okay this girl above is hawtttt! We love the bob, her confidence and attitude. She can even make her cleavage look demure in this getup. A perfect depiction of how sexy does not equate trashy!

We want every single thing she’s wearing in this photo! The skirt! The top! The necklace! Although her feet aren’t showing, we can totally picture her polishing this look off with a pair of cute strappy sandals and the perfect pedicure! Replace the strappy sandals with a pair of peep-toe stilettos and we guarantee you’ll make heads turn in this colorful ensemble.

Some magazines strongly oppose the denim on denim combo. Well, we beg to differ! This girl shows us how to get it right and simplicity really works best, ladies. Check out the little tassle on her shoes! L-O-V-E!

This one is Natasha’s personal favorite. The colors, the pattern, the details on the back, perfect for Singapore’s hot hot hot weather – and is it just us or the weather is getting super hot lately?! Don’t over accesorize this getup, you don’t want to take the attention away from the beautiful fabric and cut. We think a dainty bracelet or necklace and pink glossy lips would be just perfect. Oh, and a cute clutch and a pair of ballerina flats, too. And maybe put your hair up in a messy bun or ponytail. And of course the perfect mani won’t hurt. One more thing, aviator sunnies. Ok we’re done 🙂

Today at Raffles City

We must admit, it was a struggle to find awesome things to buy at Raffles City today. But here is the best of what we found:

Sometimes you can find little gems that stand out, and a couple of colourful dresses managed to catch the eye! Only one size available in store (Small – but more like a Small/ Medium)

Printed dress – this is a generous “S” – if you are petite you may need to get this taken in. Price: $79 SGD
Same dress also in this print! Same price ($79 SGD)

It’s a punchy brand, and a lot of people wouldn’t even dare try the clothes on given the crazy clothes displayed in the store window. So here it is – what some of the latest Desigual clothes look like on a real human!

First of all, check out the change rooms!

Fun and quirky change rooms at Desigual, Raffles City.
Great weekend dress that is a bit floaty but very sexy! Price: $104 SGD
Vintage-y shot of the dress! Carmen’s fave.
Very comfortable t-shirt dress! This is obviously a bit more exxy but the design is pretty cool. Price: $164 SGD
Another t-shirt dress… Price: $164 SGD

Kate Spade

There are women out there who obsess over Kate Spade. For those women, check out what we found!

Ooh la la! This gorgeous mustard yellow bag is bang on trend, and although quite pricey, we’re sure you can use this for years to come as the colour goes fantastically with black, white and blue-greys. Price: $630 SGD
This bag is a little different, which is why we like it! It’s gold shimmer probably had something to do with us liking it, but we also think it looks like a bag that would age well! We think it would be best teamed with the mustard yellow (the colour is everywhere), a white cotton dress or dark denim jeans.

Again, we found lovely mustard colour shoes…

These would go perfectly with the yellow *ahem mustard* Kate Spade bag above! Price $159 SGD

And we found neon pink colour shoes too – cute!

Neon pink shoes! These would look fabulous with a white knee length dress! It’s a bit girly but toned down we think these would look great (forget wearing matching pink clothes, you risk looking like Barbie or a Clueless/ Legally blonde wannabe!)

And even more neon!

Wow! We’d love to see someone rocking the yellow neon shoes!

Carmen’s fave were this pair of burgundy shoes that would work well from workplace to dinner!

These burgundy shoes look classy and elegant, although you may need to get used to walking in the ultra fine stiletto heel! Price: $199 SGD
These leopard print shoes are very comfortable for wider feet, although we think for the quality you get the price tag is a bit steep… maybe wait for the sale. Price $139 SGD
