Jewellery in Singapore: Anton Heunis, Samantha Wills & Chelsea De Luca @ Peachy

In Singapore, sometimes you feel the only options for jewellery are either Chanel/ Bvlgari etc or Diva… Not saying anything is wrong with either, but it’s great to know that there are places in Singapore that cater for the middle ground!

Check out these two jewellery designers that are currently available at Peachy (for further details on where to purchase, check out the end of this post).

Anton Heunis

Handmade in Madrid. Gosh that line sounds terribly exotic doesn’t it?! With jewellery, we think pictures say everything, so here we go:

fave4What’s trending in jewellery right now? Feathers, coral and turquoise accents. Love this necklace above, it’s light yet chunky at the same time!

Below you can see more of the new collection from Anton Heunis. We love all of these pieces – and must admit they are perfect for just making an all white or all black outfit a lot more interesting! Also think navy blue would work well with these pieces.

fave12

These earrings below are actually made from Ivory glass (we tried to look up whether ivory glass was better/ more ethical than using ivory but couldn’t find any info on this!), as well as crystal and gun metal! But again the features make these earrings appear so light and feminine! (SIDE NOTE: found out that ivory is simply the colour of the glass, so not unethical in any way… yay!)

fave2

Samantha Wills

Think: dreamy, vintage-style, bohemian luxe jewellery. That’s Samantha Wills, a VERY popular Aussie jewellery designer. You can see why in the below pictures…

fave5

Regarding the below, I think we could just close the wooden box and take the whole lot home! fave6

Amazing bracelets below – especially the ones with turquoise stone. This jewellery is so beautiful we can imagine treasuring it forever and handing it down one day. fave7Carmen’s favourite is the turquoise blue bracelet in the below picture – it’s very slinky yet the massive turquoise stone in the middle packs a punch. LOVE it. Turquoise is also Carmen’s birth stone… just saying…fave8

And why not get the matching turquoise ring to go with the bracelet?! This is divine. fave9  And then there is bridal jewellery! What a great idea – for the bride who doesn’t want to wear typical standard jewellery on her wedding day, or is struggling to find a decent hair clip for the veil etc – well Peachy is trying to help you brides out!fave14These earrings below are our favourite – forget wedding day, we’d wear these every day! Very art deco and so elegant – they would really look amazing in the evening!

fave1

Cocktail rings are really “in” for weddings this year – it’s all about the bride giving her bridesmaids gorgeous cocktail rings to wear on the wedding day.

fave3

As you can see Peachy has a variety of different options – we know these may be considered a little less “conventional” to traditional jewellery but it’s just so lovely to see something a bit more interesting then just bling! And if you still want the bling, trust us – check out the massive necklace on the left below – this is cha-ching bling!!!

11 Days til Christmas! + Buying gifts in Singapore!

It’s that time of year again….. and if you are anything like us you usually wait until the last minute to do all that X’mas shopping, walking around Orchard road with 100,000 other people whilst completely freaking out about what the heck you are going to buy for everyone you love….

Well we have decided to try and be a bit more organised this year to avoid that crazy last minute rush (it’s just too stressful)…. so here is our guide to Christmas shopping in Singapore!

BUYING PRESSIES for…

BOYFRIEND/ HUSBAND

Obviously it will depend on his likes/ interests and personality, however here is some inspiration to get you started (we personally find our lover boys to be the hardest to buy gifts for… argh!)

1. For the CLASSIC man:

Dunhill, Montblanc, Zegna are all good bets! Start at Ion Singapore for Zegna, and then work your way to Ngee Ann City for Dunhill and Montblanc.

Screen Shot 2012-12-14 at 2.04.04 PM

2. For the INDIE man: Remember that t-shirts store called b2b we blogged about earlier this year (check out our previous post here)? If you are in Bugis, we think that store is a good bet.

OR Make him your own designed t-shirt from Threadless – pretty cool and he has to love it given you made it for him! go to http://beta.threadless.com/

Screen Shot 2012-12-14 at 2.10.35 PM
3. For the GEEKY man: Get him either an iTunes voucher (if he is a MAC fan), or buy him a subscription to WIRED/ TOP GEAR / SCIENCE ILLUSTRATED / TORQUE  magazine subscription. Even better, if he has an Ipad, buy him the subscription via iTunes (good last minute gift idea!)

For the Singapore magazines, you can subscribe online here:

4. For the FOODIE man: Get him as much meat as possible from “The Butcher” (click here for more details) gift card – that way he can eat as much meat as he likes! Given how expensive it is for a steak in Singapore, we think this is a pretty generous gift!

Screen Shot 2012-12-14 at 2.17.47 PM

5. For the ALCO man: get him a home beer brewing kit – genius! You can even make ginger beer!

BEERCheck it out at:

http://www.ibrew.com.sg/ for the Coopers beer kit and ginger beer kit; or

http://www.homebrew.com.sg/  for a more diverse selection of beers…

6. For the “BEAR GRYLLS WANNABE MAN”: “adventure” gift cards in Singapore – he can go Zorbing, attend “survival days”, kayaking, laser shooting, clay pigeon shooting…

Check out http://www.adventour.com.sg/activities.html

Screen Shot 2012-12-14 at 2.40.07 PM

7. For the FASHIONABLE man: this online store called Indochino is pretty fashionable for men! The only problem is getting it shipped to you by Christmas…. not going to happen but a great gift idea nonetheless! Click here http://www.indochino.com/collection/Accessories

Screen Shot 2012-12-14 at 2.41.08 PM

8. For the PILOT WANNABE man: Carmen bought this experience for her man for his birthday a few months ago – it’s a great gift for anyone who has ever wanted to learn to fly a Boeing 747 before….. the simulator is so realistic (real pilots use this!) so we can highly recommend! Girlfriend/ wife gets to sit at the back and watch your man pretend to be a pilot so it’s fun for both!

Carmen bought some of these from their pop up store in Orchard Central (ground floor at the back – open until end of December) – the quality is amazing and they are unique. Priced up to $12 each which is really reasonable.

Peachy accessories – new collections and special discount offer for our readers!

We were first introduced to the wonderful accessories brand Peachy at the recent W boutique fair held in Singapore (see our previous blog post here).

Well this time around Carmen went to visit the lovely owner, Kristy, at her showroom which is situated just behind Spruce restaurant in Phoenix Park  (full address details are at the end of this post).

So let’s get straight to it and present to you – what we love from Peachy right now! All the below are available on their online store or you can pick it up yourself from the showroom.

*** SPOILER ALERT: we are able to offer our readers a special 10% discount  on all online Peachy purchases until the end of November! For details check the bottom of our post! ***

Unique jewellery pieces

We expect all these pieces to result in delightful gasps from your readers – they are so unique, quirky and the best part is they are not available at any of the major malls, so you won’t have to worry about anyone else wearing the same statement piece! Phew!

Statement Rings by ANNE BLACK

We love these, so we think it’s fitting that they’re called love rings! They are handcrafted from ceramic, and we think they would be perfect for a date with the man!

We love the idea of combining more than one ring!

Just as a little side note, we also adore the little Anne Black ceramic earrings too! Priced at SGD59 – these would look so cute on the weekend!

Anton Heunis ring (priced at SGD132 – this is handcrafted in Madrid with blue & green crystals!)

1 Necklace, 2 ways *New*

We love how versatile this necklace is below – you can double it up for a completely different look! This is new at Peachy so get in there before it is sold!

And double it to make a shorter necklace! This necklace is available at the showroom only (for now).

“Fierce Encounters” necklace – this necklace will certainly get people talking!

And here it is again (below). Priced at: SGD310, this necklace is handmade from Sydney, Australia by FIEL SOL.

LOVINGLY Handmade Shoes!

Ballet Pumps

For those ladies looking for good quality leather ballet pumps, which are reasonably priced, check out the fun colours below – perfect for Singapore! Price: SGD130 – did we mention these are handmade using Italian leather?! – except the black, which is suede.

Lilac sandals

Loving this colour! These shoes are handmade in Italy using genuine leather and shipped out to Singapore. Price SGD140

Gorgeous tan sandals

These should be in every woman’s closet in Singapore – you could easily team this with a white maxi dress, tailored black trousers or white shorts. We are seriously in love with these, and yes they are again from Italy, handmade using real leather. These shoes will last! Price: SGD140

Bags me a Bag!

We know how hard it can be to find a good bag in Singapore that is not:

1. cheap, tacky and poor quality, some with that weird “pleather” smell… or

2. jaw dropping expensive.. Chanel, Prada, Gucci – yes you are all gorgeous, but what if we just want a fashionable handbag or clutch that won’t break the bank?

So where can you find the “in-between” price range bag? We were so happy to find them at Peachy! So here are our faves…

Clutches

It’s all about the clutches these days, we’re not sure how it works but there is something empowering about not requiring a shoulder strap to carry around all your belongings…

These clutches below are new at Peachy, and the design is screen printed by hand! The clutch on the right with the pop of yellow is our favourite!

And here are some more “neutral” tones below – think how perfect these would go with a white flowy dress on the weekend!

Carmen seemed to be wearing the perfect dress to accompany this clutch!

Swimming pool bag

We love this, and at SGD449 we recognise it’s not super cheap, but it’s not super expensive either. That’s the beauty about Peachy – they have finally targeted the “mid-market”! The bag is handcrafted in France using the softest calf leather. We fell in love with this on first sight, and it’s on our Christmas wish list!

And here it is below in mustard – our fave!!

We love the Status Anxiety bag below (priced at SGD130), because it  is big enough to hold everything you need but small enough you can take anywhere! We think this would make the ultimate festival bag – perfect for those concerts in Fort Canning Park!

We could rave on and on about the fabulous finds at Peachy, but we think it’s really best that you go out and discover yourself!

Thanks to the wonderful owner Kristy, we are able to offer a 10% discount to all of our readers for all online purchases at Peachy up until the end of November 2012!

To receive your discount: simply visit their online store at www.peachyshop.com and enter discount code CNDISCOUNT  at the shopping cart page.

Peachy update: Simona shoes – more pics!

So after our last post on Peachy (see here) we have had some requests to show what the shoes by Simona look like on people – so here it is!

If these photos don’t convince you to grab a pair, we don’t know what will!

These are the gold sandals by Simona (price: SGD140)

And here are the same shoes in mustard colour – one of the best sellers at Peachy (and given our current obsession with this colour, we think very fitting!). These shoes are available in EIGHT colours! Tan brown, dark blue, yellow, hot pink, emerald green, black, silver and gold!

In case you really like the bag (another best seller),  here is a close up of it! Priced at SGD449, it’s actually a limited edition and made of the softest calf leather.

W Boutique fair: Spotlight on Peachy!

Peachy is a brand that has travelled the world to source accessory collections from emerging designers in Europe, Scandinavia and Australia and bring them to your doorstep in Singapore!

As soon as we stumbled on their stall at the W boutique fair we knew there was something special about Peachy. Let’s face it, when you see shoes made in Italy, jewellery made in Madrid and bags made in Australia, you can’t help but think “that’s so handy…and how exciting!” All the accessories are hand-crafted using high quality materials, so you know it’s not going to fall apart after one season!

So let’s have a look at our favourite designers stocked by Peachy (if you are interested in any of the below, Peachy’s details are listed at the end of this post!)

Jewellery from Madrid: by Anton Heunis

Who else are fans besides us? Oh just Nicole Ritchie, Natalie Portman and Elizabeth Jagger to name a few!

Ok so we really love the “bling to the max”  necklace on the left. Why? Check out how amazing it looks on the model below! What a statement – usually we are opposed to looking like chandeliers but we really think this works. Prices: Necklace is SGD235, bracelet SGD197 and ring SGD117.

These clip-on earrings below would really pop with a structured black dress and are a perfect way to instantly transform your corporate look into “glam” look. They are a bit on the pricey side, but this is because they are handcrafted in Madrid using grey agate, hand-cut glass and crystal detail. Price: SGD342

This new mosaic bangle by Anton Heunis below is made from brass with crystals and hand cut glass in a mosaic design. Price: SGD200

And check out the cluster ring by Anton Heunis below – with turquoise stones, purple, green and grey crystals. Price: SGD132

Bright eyes owl pendants by Peachy Designs

These are SO CUTE! They are handcrafted in Bali and made out of resin, and if you were crying because the prices of the above jewellery range were way out of your budget, then you will be happy to know these are only SGD31 each! The necklace itself is beaded using semi-precious stones (either genuine turquoise – which FYI is Carmen’s and all other Sagittarians birthstones… or cherry quartz).

cyclical industry rings and bracelets

Who would have ever thought of wearing square and hexagonal rings? We love these and you can easily combine different colours together! We also rate the simplicity of the bracelets made using neon silk thread and are fully adjustable to fit any wrist size! Prices: rings SGD21, bracelets SGD23

Jewellery by Anne Black (Danish designer)

Anne Black is educated as a ceramicist and based in Copenhagen. Her jewellery collection is created just outside of Hanoi, Vietnam. These necklaces below are hand crafted using porcelain and silk thread. Each petal design is different! Price: SGD39

Sandals by Simona (from Sicily, Italy)

Ok so Natasha just came back from a trip to Italy and can’t believe that you can get these so easily in Singapore! Simona and her husband come from a family of shoemakers in Sicily… their family has over 50 years in the shoemaking industry! So it is safe to assume these guys know what they are doing, and it shoes. The sandals are very comfortable, with the most popular colours being silver and gold. The shoes are handmade in Sicily using 100% Italian leather, and both styles shown are priced at SG140. We think this is excellent value for money given the quality of the workmanship and materials used – these are sure to last!

And the most awesome point of all…

if you have a larger shoe size that is unavailable (expat ladies, we know some of you out there struggle with this!)… they will custom make the sandal for you at no extra cost!

Sorry but we thought that point deserved larger text…

Wallets by status anxiety

Made from soft Italian leather, these wallets would make perfect gifts and are available in Singapore friendly colours! We just love colour on this island!
Price: SGD90

Ever looked for a clever wallet with a detachable zip-up coin purse? So clever – you can pop it into your smaller clutch and away you go! See below – they are created using soft leather and available in red, tan brown and black. Price: SGD115

Envelope clutches by Som & Tooby

Som & Tooby are based in Burleigh Heads, Australia, and the designer behind the brand, Brooke West, creates each bag by hand in their studio! Each bag uses quality local materials and Australian leathers, so you know you are getting what you paid for. Price: Envelope clutch (below) is SGD120
